Results and Japanese Babblings

Got my results about 30 mins ago, overall not too bad. The mark needed to pass is 40% Here's the numbers:-

Biochemistry- 44%, Molecular Genetics - 56%, Biodiversity - 62%, Genes, Evolution and Development - 38%

So yeah, Genes is the first thing i have ever to have failed at. Very weird feeling this. I might not have to resit it though and the first year is just a pass or fail year anyway and doesn't count towards your overall degree that you leave with. The uni has this thing called a 'Compensative Pass' whereby if you have scored over 40% in 7 of you units and Tutorial and scored over 30 in upto 4 of your units you are still let through to the second year with a pass. This is because of the breadth of content you study in the first year and that it may not be a field of particular interest to you.

So yeah, this is just a wake up call to me to work harder from now on. My Japanese module is worth 4 of my Biology units so as long as i do well in that-like i have been doing- i'll be fine.

Speaking of Japanese, i have to start filling out the huge form needed for me to apply to be able to live in Japan during my third year. Also Banto-sensei, the head of the Japanese deaprtment at Manchester, has returned from his Japan visit with the names and email addresses of some Japanese students who are very interested in coming over here for a couple months as part of their linguistics degree and to do some work experience. So i have to email this girl i chose, Yuki Yoshida. I hope Yuki-san is a nice girl, she's 20 and seems really outgoing and i love her name, its the same as my other Japanese teachers, Shaw-sensei and means snow. I'm going to email her tomorrow at any rate.

Adios for now people! =D

Children of the Chinese New Year

I'm barely an adult myself and i want a child still. I thought it was just a phase that started when i was 8 or 9 ish but it hasn't gone away. I know it's a huge commitment of 18+ years of your life but I've always wanted it and i will have it. Does this make me a freak or what?

I mean how many gay people have even thought for a second at my age about children? Probably none.

In other news, boredom has driven me to find ways of relieving it, at the moment this consists of tidying up, organising uni work, reading short stories from my favorite author, Haruki Murakami, doing uni work, Japanese practice and doing some exercises for 30 mins or so. *sigh* hope it works, i need to get through this day for i feel its going to be a long one.

Last night i went for a wandering around pretty much the whole of Manchester city center, i had stuff to think about and needed to clear my head and just do something. It was really good to be honest, my favorite bit was when i found a secretish passage to the town hall and it slowly revealed all the lights and stuff, China Town was all lit up because we are now in the year of the Golden Pig! Woop!

The results for the January exams are posted somewhere today but i'm not all that bothered, I know i'm going to have to retake 2 or 3 of the 4 i did-which i know is going to be stressful but it's my own fault.

Also whats up with the radio, i used to listen to Radio 1 constantly for 3 years pretty much and I've been distracted by iTunes for a couple of months, come back to it this morning and they're playing pretty much the same songs they've been playing for the past few months! WHAT THE HELL!! *Switches radio off, and iTunes on*

And on that note i shall leave you for now! Comment away! :D

IMDb

Saw Hannibal the other day, thought it wasn't half bad. Rhys Iffans was brilliant in it as Grutas and the guy who played Hannibal had THE most annoying dimple i have ever saw EVER. Hannibal's Japanese aunt, Lady Murasaki, is played by Li Gong, the cow who played Hatsumomo in Memoirs of a Geisha. The film wasn't as good as it could have been but was enjoyable and very similar to the book-which may or may not have been a good thing.

I'm seriously getting addicted to films now. In the past few days i have bought 8 DVDs, bearing in mind i have practically no money to live on for the next couple weeks due to my bursary not coming in and having to pay out for my accommodation.

Last night i watched Closer again, for the 4th time i think, and it is still utterly brilliant! Only problem is i think i'm starting to see a couple of characteristics of the characters in myself. VERY FUCKING SCARY!!! I really don't know how Clive Owen didn't get the oscar for this film, he really does make the film what it is. Also i was informed by a very sexy person i know that the writer of Closer also has done Notes on a Scandal, which i now have to see!

I'm at a loss as to what to do today, perhaps some mysterious stranger will come and whisk me off and we can have a great time or maybe i'll just sit here and pout and eat and play games *sigh*

Random Update

Over half way through Hannibal Rising and i'm rather enjoying it. It's one of those late night books, the type that if you try and read when 100% alert you just get distracted rather than sucked in. Reminds me a lot of Hannibal in the way there isn't a lot f action so far but has a lot of wit and dark humor in it.

I can't believe how much money i spent yesterday, a fiver in starbucks, 26 quid ish in HMV on some much needed new DVDs, and 40 quid in a chinese restaurant! what the hell did i take yesterday!!! i have about 20 quid to last me now for at least 2 weeks . . . . . . :(

I've been a naughty boy again and have been skipping lecture because its soo dull! i may go one step beyond tomorrow and skip 2 hours f Kanji class . . . but only if i receive good reason to NOT go in.

In other news, i have finally cooked the first bowl of pasta i have enjoyed that i have made myself :D I RULE! :P

Right-eo then, time for me to 'do' some mouthwash before i brave the February cold and go to the cinema! Au revoir!!!

PS3 - What a shame vol. 1

SO this is my new blog! woop! let the typing commence!

PS3-what a fucking mess Sony have made of that damn console! it should be good on paper, the most powerful console ever made, full HDMI HD support, built in HD movie player and Sony's past history of support from the best third party developers BUT somehow they've seriously fucked up.

The games just aren't there, admittedly Resistance and Motorstorm are very good games but nothing to match what was available on the 360 just after it launched, namely Oblivion, Kameo, DoA 4, PGR3, and a couple of others. Saying the console has only been out since the start of November isn't an argument as the 360 was out here in December and managed to get these games out before the end of winter!

Support in the future doesn't look as stellar as it did for the PSone or two, developers can't really afford to make too many exclusives for the PS3 when the 360 has a 10 million installed userbase and the Wii is so cheap to make games for.

Anyway thats just a couple of my thoughts about that, i shall no doubt comeback to the subject soon but till then BYE and thanks for reading! :D
